Villa Kuuvan historia
Villa Kuuva, also known as Villa 92C, is a seaside villa built in 1850 by merchant M. Hellman as part of the first wave of villa construction on Ruissalo Island. What makes the villa exceptional are its Gothic windows, mentioned already in its original fire insurance documents. Similar stained-glass windows can be found on the verandas of a few other villas on the island, but Villa Kuuva is unique in that these colorful windows were also used in the main rooms of the house.
Over the years, the villa has had 18 different owners. One of the most notable events in its history took place in 1884, when the villa was owned by Baron S. W. von Troil, Speaker of the Turku City Council. That year, Emperor Alexander III of Russia visited the villa for refreshments when his imperial naval entourage made a brief stop in Kuuva.
